Tyrannosaur Trailer

Sometimes a gritty British movie comes out of nowhere and becomes an instant hit. Trainspotting and Lock stock immediately spring to mind.

And then there are those that get criminally underrated like Dead Man's Shoes which, in my opinion, is far better than the ones above.

To wet people's appetite for the forth coming Blu Rays in October, Universal are to re-release Jurassic Park back into cinemas from Sept 23rd.

Fantastic news I'm sure you'll agree. I did actually get to see this first time around but a chance to see it digitally restored is something I don't think I'll turn down.

While talk on Ghostbusters 3 has died down, Dan Aykroyd thought that today might be a good day to get the news mill grinding again.

Yep, he's let lose a whole load of details about the new entry including potential filming dates and updates on where his and Egon's characters are at in life.

At long last! A film that I've been waiting to see for several years finally, finally, gets a trailer. Hunter S. Thompson's The Rum Diary is almost upon us.

Directed by Bruce Robinson and starring Johnny Depp and Aaron Eckhart it nails my expectations and sets my enthusiasm levels to eleven. I can't wait.

Taken 2 To Start Filming In October

While it's been rumoured for quite some time nothing concrete has been mentioned about if or indeed when Taken 2 will finally start filming.

Well wait no more because straight from Luc Besson (producer) himself comes the news that it all kicks off in October. Yay.

This is one of those horrible stories that refuses to go away and never come back again. The Oldboy remake. I shudder every time I type that line.

Speilberg and Will Smith passed on the idea but then along came Spike Lee who picked up the directing reigns and is now apparently roping in Christian Bale.

He's 81 today and to celebrate the fact I'm listing my top 5 favourite Sean Connery movies. I always throw in a worst in these features as well but with Connery I think that's going to be pretty predictable.

The Rock Producing 80's Wrestling TV Series

We don't usually cover TV stuff here on the blog but since this is a subject close to my childhood heart I thought I'd share it with everyone.

It's been announced that The Rock and Jerry Bruckheimer are producing a TV series that follows the rise of the WWF (now WWE) through the 80's and 90's. Brilliant.

I've been reading a lot of rumours about the forth coming Star Wars blu-ray but nothing as concrete as to what is listed after the read more jump.

Digital Bits apparently got a preview of the disks and found that, yet again, Lucas has been tinkering with the original trilogy. Oh dear.

They touched on Napster briefly in The Social Network but Alex Winter, yes Bill from Bill and Ted, has decided to go one step further and bring the true story of the file sharing App to the big screen.

Winter claims that it was originally going to be fictionalised movie but has now decided on the documentary route.

Plot
An unflinching Ozark Mountain girl hacks through dangerous social terrain as she hunts down her drug-dealing father while trying to keep her family intact.

Review
Sometimes performances can overshadow a film and cover up essentially a poor story.

Review: Super (18) ★★★★★

Plot
After his wife falls under the influence of a drug dealer, an everyday guy transforms himself into Crimson Bolt, a superhero with the best intentions, though he lacks for heroic skills.

Review
Its difficult to breath new life into the Superhero genre at the moment.

I remember seeing the trailer for The Last Exorcism and thinking "Crikey that looks brilliant", then watching the film and being sorely disappointed.

The critics, on the whole, also seemed to agree (especially over that ending) so the news that a sequel has been green-lit surprises me.

Carnage Trailer

When you think of Roman Polanski you think, tense, wrought thrillers and heavy duty drama. What you don't necessarily think of is comedy.

Well that's what you basically get in the trailer for his latest offering, Carnage. Yes, it surprised me too.

Plot

After witnessing a mysterious train crash, a group of friends in the summer of 1979 begin noticing strange happenings going around in their small town, and begin to investigate into the creepy phenomenon.

Review

Nostalgia is an easy thing to play on.

Yes, you've guessed it. Another movie starring Nicolas Cage, this time in his standard action guise. And, yes you've guessed it, this one also looks awful.

I'm pretty sure Cage signs on for anything that he's offered. I mean literally anything, because it would certantly explain this film.

I had to post this, just to show you how somebody can seriously fuck up a decent idea. Seriously, this is laughable, and not even in a good way.

Hellraiser was a decent little horror film when it was released back in '87, it spawned numerous, poor sequels but, to be fair, the tongue was kept firmly in cheek.

Texas Killing Fields Trailer

With some trailers I get an instant vibe as to whether or not I'll like the end product. Others I tend to immediately dismiss and write off, which is a weakness on my part I'm trying to overcome.

Then there are ones that simply sit in the middle and don't do anything for me at all. Texas Killing Fields is one of those.

Now here's an interesting looking trailer that I hadn't heard anything about. I'm yet to be convinced by Gerard Butler, I think there's a good actor there waiting to break out. And I think he's found his role.

Machine Gun Preacher seems to be a strange hybrid of full on emotional drama and all out action. Two genres I like very much.

Right, so after the last Rambo film here's what Stallone had to say on the character.

"It's pretty well done; I'm about 99% sure there won't be any more," he said. "I'm very happy with the last Burmese episode, and another film might be misinterpreted as an unnecessary and mercenary gesture. I don't want that to happen."

First Alien and now Blade Runner. It seems Ridley Scott is chomping at the bit to expand on his two classic sci-fi films.

Some, in fact I'm guessing most, will consider this sacrilege while others may be genuinely excited by the news. For me its certainly the first.

Official Synopsis For Man Of Steel

Although it pretty much tells us what we already knew about the new Superman film it's still nice to get something official announced from a major blockbuster.

So I'll quit the babbling and get straight down to details shall I? Click read more to check out the official synopsis.

Say what you will about Nicolas Cage, he's at least prolific and so here's yet another film starring the man himself. I'm pretty sure if you check carefully he's in everything at the moment.

Well this one looks to be different from his normal bland action fare and pits him, his wife Nicole Kidman and daughter up against a gang of robbers who are after something in their house.

Plot
An action thriller centered on a soldier who wakes up in the body of an unknown man and discovers he's part of a mission to find the bomber of a Chicago commuter train.

Review
Let me tell you right off the bat that I normally have very little time for Jake Gyllenhaal.

Hysteria Trailer

The day of trailers continue with a rather odd, eccentric little comedy I've stumbled across. This one is probably for the ladies so allow me to ask a question.

Have you ever wondered where the vibrator came from? Well if your in any doubt I urge you to watch the trailer for Hysteria and all will be revealed.

If you like Shakespeare played out in modern times then chances are your going to like Ralph Fiennes adaptation of Coriolanus.

Judging from the trailer this is going to be a tough watch and it would appear that Fiennes has pulled no punches in what is to be shown.

I posted the teaser trailer a couple of months ago and noted that this looks quite interesting. Well now the full trailer has dropped I can confirm that this definitely looks the business.

Talk about creepy, there's something about really old toys and especially old dolls that sends shivers up my spine and this trailer is chock full of them.

Austin Powers 4

What do you do when you make one of the worst films ever made? You go back to what made you a huge star in the first place. In this scenario you are Mike Myers.

After The Love Guru tanked spectacular, Myers has decided to bring back Austin Powers for a fourth instalment in the series. He was always going to do this I'm just surprised it took this long.

50/50 Trailer

So here's a trailer that would appear to be one of the oddest comedies your most likely to see this year, or any other for that matter.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Seth Rogen star in a comedic account of a 27-year-old guy's cancer diagnosis, and his subsequent struggle to beat the disease. Told you.

See, I told you so. After blogging about The Stand adaptation coming to the big screen it now appears yet another one of Stephen King's books is being adapted.

There is a difference though, this book has yet to hit the shelves. And this one is going to be directed by the guy who directed Silence Of The Lambs. Thought that might interest you.

Why Eddie ... Why?!

Just when you thought Eddie Murphy might be making a comeback he goes and signs on for this.

There are plans to bring Hong Kong Phooey to the big screen, maybe not too much of a bad thing, retro and all that, but there is a down side. They plan to release this as a live-action/animated hybrid of the likes of The Chipmunks.

There was a time, about a year ago now, where you couldn't move for news stories surrounding a Stephen King adaptation. Well they died down for a while, barring The Dark Tower, but now it seems new life has been breathed back into them.

Warner Brothers have announced that they plan the bring David Yates in to direct the huge novel.

They're back! And in a Christmas movie? Okay I'll go along with it since it's Harold and Kumar and they both rule.

The first trailer, well in fact, the first anything really, of the new Harold & Kumar film has been released and I've just watched it. And it looks like it could be great, minus the ridiculous, unneeded 3D elements.

Review: Your Highness (15) ★★★★

Plot
When Prince Fabious's bride is kidnapped, he goes on a quest to rescue her... accompanied by his lazy useless brother Thadeous.

Review
Your Highness had one of the most promising trailers that I'd seen in quite a while.

Babysitting movies. Jeesh, where to start? Well they're shit, the children are obnoxious, the sitter learns to appreciate sickly, vomit inducing family values and the storyline predictable. Agreed? Agreed.

So the trailer for The Sitter just goes through the motions of the above right? Wrong MuthaFucker. This time it's a whole different story.

And yet another superhero reveal, this time from Zac Synder's Superman. Even though it's not due till 2013 we get to see a glimpse of what Henry Cavill's 'Supes will look like.

Again this is just one picture from one scene (I'm assuming) but it does look good. Plus we get a decent look at the legendary Superman suit.

With loads of set pictures leaked of The Dark Knight it was really only a matter of time before an official image was released rather than a fuzzy taken fan photo.

So here it is, out first glimpse of Anne Hathaway as Catwoman. Riding the Batpod no less!

The Darkest Hour Trailer

I've said before that I'm a sucker for a good alien invasion movie so when I found out about the trailer for The Darkest Hour I made a bee-line to watch it.

The results? It looks tremendous. I love the fact that this has some intelligence behind it as well as good old fashioned action sequences.

Arena Trailer

Seriously, what's with all the big names in Hollywood staring in and directing shitty direct to DVD style films. First Francis Ford Coppola (yup that story is just down there) now Samuel L. Jackson.

WTF? Why the hell has Jackson signed on for this? If you could create a generic direct to DVD style film this would be it.

I tend to judge trailers with an immediate reaction. I'll either love them or hate them. There tends to be very little middle ground.

So watching the trailer for Twixt, brought to us by the man who made The Godfather I & II and Apocalypse Now, it pains me to really hate it.

Like Crazy Trailer

Many people think that when it comes to movies I survive on a diet of Action and Sci-Fi. Well yes, I admit these are my bread and butter but I do like to diversify and sometimes little films come along and capture my attention.

Like Crazy is one of these. A romantic, indie movie centralised on two main characters and their relationship.

I wouldn't normally post something like this but my thirst for anything related to Prometheus is insatiable.

Someone has uploaded a you tube montage showing the screen stills from the comic con trailer. It may seem a bit random but when you see the style of the thing you'll know why this has been posted.

Die Hard 5 Rumours

If these are to be believed, and you can blame Twitch Film if they are, then it looks like the Die Hard franchise may well be put in a Indiana Jones shaped grave.

Again, these are just rumours, albeit credible rumours, but they currently consist of John McClane and his .... jesus this is almost too painful to write ... they have him ....

Oh yeah. This is what I'm talking about. If you don't like spoilers then your probably best not clicking the read more link below. If you don't mind then continue on as normal.

To be fair these pictures aren't major spoilers but could give away a good old fight scene and a decent look at the batpod.

Last years The Expendables had, without doubt, the beefiest, most testosterone fuelled cast you could possibly imagine. Shame the film didn't match its cast.

Well Expendables 2 is doing what all good (and bad) sequels do and upping the star wattage. Yes it would appear there's going to be even more muscle on display now.
