As we've reviewed on this site, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is a classic. It's a brilliantly layered film with amazing characters that pull no punches. So is there any reason for it to be remade?
My normal response would be a definitive no. I wouldn't even have to think about that response, the 'no' would be out of my mouth as soon as the word remake had left your lips. But I've now seen two trailers. So is my response the same?
Well, initially yes. I'd still have to say that a remake is in no way needed, but the trailers do present a very interesting and potentially more faithful adaptation of the source novel.
The style of the film looks great and there appears to be more elements of the book present in this film than the Scandinavian original. You add on top of this the talent of David Fincher behind the camera and a strong cast list including Daniel Craig, Stellan Skarsgard, Christopher Plummer and the brilliant Julian Sands and the potential rises.
The first trailer was more like a drug induced trip through various shots of the film, while this second is more plot driven and commercial.
Take a look and let me know what you think.
