Tom Cruise To Star In Oblivion

Tom Cruise may be mental, there can be NO denying that, but the guy can act and the next project he's signed up for is very interesting.

Oblivion is Joseph Kosinski's follow up to TRON: Legacy and has been written by William Monahan who also helped pen The Departed. Pretty solid stuff then.

Cruise will play a soldier repairing droids that fend off aliens on an uninhabitable Earth, while the remainder of the population lives in clouds above the surface.

He meets a beautiful woman who crash-lands on the post-apocalyptic wasteland, and she causes him to question everything he thinks he knows.

Like I said, interesting. It couldn't be more sci-fi if it tried and could easily be mistaken for a Phillip K Dick novel. Lets just hope Cruise keeps the smugness under control and delivers a performance that he's more than capable of giving.
