Serious mis-casting alert anyone? My alarm bells are certainly ringing after news emerged that Bradley Cooper (The Hangover & The A-Team) appears to be in negotiations to play the lead in The Crow remake. Yikes!
The original Crow movie is just fantastic. Dark, brooding and atmospheric as hell underpinned by a great central performance by Brandon Lee.
Unfortunately the original will always be remembered for Lee's tragic onset death which brought to the end the life and career of the young son of Bruce Lee. The curse of the Dragon anyone?
Anyway, the remake wheels are turning on the new feature and with Cooper looking to star it would appear they are going for a very different take on the original.
Maybe it's a good thing, steering clear of the style and story of the first film will give the film it's own identity and allow it to expand and grow without real association (other than name obviously). Who knows, I'm just not sure Cooper fits the mould of this character.
I have been proved wrong before though. Many times actually come to think of it......
