This is an interesting looking film, and what adds a little more curiosity to it is that it's directed by Roland Emmerich.
So, no, this isn't a disaster or an alien/creature invasion movie but more an interesting period piece that deposits the idea that William Shakespeare didn't actually write any of his plays.
Now with this being Emmerich there was always going to be a grandiose backdrop to the obvious dialogue and this is in the form of the Essex Revolution against Queen Elizabeth I, so don't worry there's going to be some bang for your buck.
Emmerich's last venture into this type of fair was with The Patriot which didn't do as well as it could have. Annonymous on the other hand does seem to be more interesting with the premise of Shakespeare being a fraud and the Essex rebellion so here's hoping it stands up to what it promises.
